Poem attempt (The Arrival of The Flame)

Right after assembly,
was the long awaited event,
lining up on both sides of the road,
chit-chatting as the teachers got us ready,
stand up! sit down! was all the things we could here,
bored? Just walk anywhere you want,
even disturbing your friends,
jabbing twigs and throwing dried crisp leaves at them,
WHERE IS THE TORCH? Boredom started to engulf us,
starring at the gantry gate over and over and over,
teachers and staffs strolled up and down the path,
ensuring that everything is, you know.........

Hey! Look! The outstanding car came through the path,
Since the start we wondered, who is this G.O.H.?
The car came to a halt and a guy in the YOG outfit emerged from the car,
The principal came to the G.O.H. and shook hands and exchanged friendly hugs,
Not long after that, here comes a blue, YOG logo-ed bus,
The doors opens and officials came out one by one, slowly and steady,
Ohhhh! Lookie! The majestic YOG flame is actually here!
The officials came through the road in a arrow-headed order with the flame in that "life-sustaining" container,
Celebrations began with a dragon dance, the principal and the G.O.H. watched as time faded away,
People began to surround the performance,
No Fair! Once visible performance is now behind a wall of seniors......

Everything is followed by the normal speech and on and on,
The torch is being lit,
Some of us witnessed it while some, didn't care...
The relay begun and we were dismissed,
That was the only time which we were closest to the flame itself.....

This poem is freely written by me....

  1. It was such a pity that we were not able to see the Olympic torch that much. The most disappointing thing about that day was that we did not even get to see the performance itself as we were allocated at the far end of the road and there were seniors completely crowding around the stage. It was hilarious to see some people thought that the Olympic torch was here and started to cheer but instead it was someone else.
