The Lady or The Tiger?(the ending)

The crowd was waving their arms wildly. "GO FOR THE RIGHT! NO GO FOR THE LEFT!" they shouted like hysterically. The atmosphere was full of anxiety. "Quiet! Let the man decide his own fate! Continue....", the barbaric king stood up and gave a growl. It was followed by drum rolls and trumpets sounds. As the crowd was paying close attention to the man, he was actually looking up at the princess.

"Is she telling me to choose the right door? There is only one way to find out! I must open the door she that she is waving to.......But will she save me? Or will she send me to my death?

The young man bravely trusted his instinct. The door was chosen, jeering and cheering came from the crowd. "Boooooo....!" and at the same time "yahhhhh.....!". His fate was chosen, but the only question is, "What is in there?".

The door is slowly opened. All was quiet for a moment, as though everyone was praying for his fate; knowing that it will be such a waste of a handsome man to be devoured by the tiger right before their very eyes, if that is what he has chosen. The man automatically raised both of his arms, half covering his face as he was expecting the tiger to pounce on him and eat him alive, and he has made up his mind to give it his best fight as if that action will save him but there was not a single roar at all!

The crowd was silent as if everyone has stopped breathing. The man stared at the ground and gradually lifted up his head. He saw two most beautiful, slender legs stepping out towards him. Without hesitation the man looked straight, could not quite believe his what he has done. "Yeah.....!" Spectators who bid that he would survive cheered and exchanged hugs with each other. For out in front of them, is the maiden. A joyous mood surrounded the couple as a wedding will take place immediately.

The man took a deep breath and gave a sigh of relief. The king was furious, walked away and said in a deep voice,"He is lucky but until the next time, I will show no mercy......!"

With a heavy heart, the princess stood up and walked away without looking at her lover.

The man was married on the spot to the maiden.

A few days later, the same man reported of the disappearance of his wife. Soon rumour spreaded throughout the kingdom....... She had been kipnapped and murdered. The truth, unknown to all, lies with the semi-barbaric princess. The man was overjoyed at not having to be with someone whom he doesn't love, but sad at the same time, for she has done no wrong.

He could now be with his princess. The reason why the man was still alive and breathing is the princess.

Experience of beach cleaning at Sembawang beach

Yesterday(20/2/10) was a fun and enjoyable day. My classmates and I had to work in pairs to clean the beach. The beach was not as dirty as we had thought..... However there were still rubbish on the sand. Materials like glass and metals take a very very long time to break down. Imagine a world full of rubbish, wouldn't it be unpleasent.... In addition, global warming is occurring and sea level is rising. Animals may not be able to adapt to the new environment and may face extinction. Just as I said the beach was littered, there were broken glass, plastic bags,
straws and even died aquatic animals like crabs and fishes. We also had a competition of who can collect the most amount of rubbish. However, the other class foung a huge car tyre!!! But we had fun....! Our dirty hands is an achievement/product of a mighty battle...

Denotation and connotation(two meanings of the same)

Sometimes we see words of the same meaning, for e.g.:The word "thrifty and stingy", they both mean that the person is careful with money. This is called denotation as the meaning of the words is the definition of the dictionary.
However the meaning of these words are not the same depending on the context.
For eg.:The man is stingy.(The word stingy indicates that the man is selfish and does want to share his money.)
:The man is thrifty.(The word stingy in this context mean that the man is careful with his money and likes to share.
In other words this is called connotation
When handling words of the same meaning we must be careful......

Senory details(very important)

Senory details what are they? Well, it consists of the sense of sight, smell, taste and touch. It is very important as it helps to make the description of the passage more effective. For e.g......
-The floor is dirty. What can we conclude from this? Well, the author is using the sense of sight as he could see that the floor is dirty.
-The staircase is smelly. The author is using the sense of smell.
-The food is tasty. The author is obviously using the sense of taste as he/she is eating.
-The wall is smooth. The author is using the sense of touch as he felt the texture of the floor.
If senory details are used in stories, the description will be effective.
