Experience of beach cleaning at Sembawang beach

Yesterday(20/2/10) was a fun and enjoyable day. My classmates and I had to work in pairs to clean the beach. The beach was not as dirty as we had thought..... However there were still rubbish on the sand. Materials like glass and metals take a very very long time to break down. Imagine a world full of rubbish, wouldn't it be unpleasent.... In addition, global warming is occurring and sea level is rising. Animals may not be able to adapt to the new environment and may face extinction. Just as I said the beach was littered, there were broken glass, plastic bags,
straws and even died aquatic animals like crabs and fishes. We also had a competition of who can collect the most amount of rubbish. However, the other class foung a huge car tyre!!! But we had fun....! Our dirty hands is an achievement/product of a mighty battle...
Cheers,
Ryan Lau

  1. I agree with you that it would be very unpleasant to live in a world full of rubbish. You are also right about the global warming and humans littering causing animals, both land and aquatic, to die. There are currently organizations trying to prevent the Earth from further pollutions but people nowdays are so insistent on throwing tissue papers and other kinds of rubbish onto the ground and we can't do anything.

  2. I agree with you that global warming is occurring and sea level is rising,in order to slow down global warming,we should reuse, reduce and recycle.I think that we should be responsible of our own rubbish and not just throw them onto the floor but go to a nearby dustbin and throw it inside.

  3. What you said was right! A world full of rubbish would be really unpleasant! I guess everyone has a part to play in saving mother nature by throwing rubbish into a trash can then throwing them on to the ground. If everyone is able to contribute a little effort into preventing global warming, we would make the earth much cleaner place!
